Nine fathoms in length and cast from repurposed fabric, glue and seawater, Cast Remains of Passage reflects on the preservation of quiet non-heroic narratives and the memory of movement. The fabric — found in a suitcase from an estate — carries the traces of an individual voyage. Through its deconstruction and rupture, the work’s materiality, evokes the embodied measure of a fathom and the navigational depths suggested by nine arm-spans of distance.
