Mark Soltero (b. San Francisco, USA) is an Ōtautahi/ Christchurch based artist, whose paintings investigate relationships between image, memory, and materiality. His work is characterised by fragmentary patterns which invite viewers to engage with their own associative memories and experiences, allowing shifting interpretations.
Soltero holds a BDes from Ara Institute of Technology in Ōtautahi, an MFA from the Dunedin School of Art, and a PgDipTchg Art & Art History. He exhibits regularly and has been a finalist in several art awards including the National Contemporary Art Award and the Adam Portraiture Award.
