Noa Noa von Bassewitz

Noa Noa von Bassewitz is based in Te Whanganui‑a‑Tara and is of German/Māori (Te Arawa) descent. She holds a BA in Anthropology from the University of Otago, a Postgraduate Diploma in Anthropology from the University of Auckland, a Diploma of Teaching from Wellington Teachers' College, and a Graduate Diploma in Fine Arts and an MFA (both with Distinction) from Massey University, Wellington. She is currently completing an MA in Creative Writing at the International Institute of Modern Letters, Te Herenga Waka.

Von Bassewitz has exhibited widely, including in Soundings with Nine Fathom Deep. In 2024, she received a Prime Minister's Scholarship for an art exchange in Mexico, resulting in the group show Floración de Corazón: A Karanga to Mexico.

Her practice explores mythology, primordial art, reimagined and reclaimed womanhood - drawing on recycled and reimagined materials as both subject and method.
