Andrea Gardner (b. California, USA) is a Whanganui-based artist, teacher and museum educator working primarily in photography, mixed media sculpture and on collaborative projects with her partner Brit Bunkley. Her practice investigates identity, selfhood and the psychological tensions embedded in female experience, which she expresses in staged "truths."
Gardner holds a BFA from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and an MFA in Painting from the University of Iowa and has undertaken artist residencies in Germany, Spain, Mexico, and Los Angeles. Recent projects include Changing Lanes, Sculpture on the Gulf and Sculpture in the Gardens in Tāmaki Makaurau/ Auckland.
